Stevens was promoted to the Bisons on June 2 and has pitched in 14 games. He is 0-1 with a 3.92ERA and five saves (20.2IP, 14H, 10R, 9ER, 10BB, 28K). Stevens has averaged over 12 strikeouts per nine-innings pitched and converted five consecutive save opportunities, June 8-24. He began the 2008 season with the Double-A Akron Aeros and was 5-1 with a 2.51ERA and one save in 17 relief appearances (28.2IP, 19H, 8R, 8ER, 11BB, 37K). Stevens was originally selected by Cincinnati in the 6th round of the 2005 draft. He was acquired by Cleveland on June 13, 2006 as the player to be named in the April 7, 2006 trade of former Bison Brandon Phillips to the Reds. Former Bison RHP Mike Koplove was also selected to the team. Koplove, currently in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, was 4-2 with a 2.50ERA and 14 saves in 51 games with the Bisons last season. |
