Buffalo hosts the Chiefs at Coca-Cola Field on Monday, August 30 (7:05 p.m.) to start the team's final homestand of the 2010 season.
Mejia, 20, is 2-0 with a 1.32ERA in six starts for the Binghamton Mets (27.1IP, 19H, 14BB, 26K). In each of his last two outings, the righty has thrown seven shutout innings. Overall, Double-A hitters are averaging just .200 off him.
Before the season, Mejia was named the Mets #1 prospect, according to Baseball America. Mejia made the Mets' Opening Day roster out of spring training and pitched in 30 games out of the bullpen for New York. The 20-year old was 0-2 with a 3.25ERA in 27.2 innings of work (29H, 15BB, 17K). It was his first time being used exclusively as a reliever.
